TAMPA – The Cambridge Christian Lancers finished last season 12-1 on the way to becoming the Class 2A state runner-up.

On Friday night, the Lancers took down Delray Beach Village 45-6 at Skyway Park. Cambridge Christian had a shutout intact until the final two minutes of the game with backups in.

Here are the top plays from the season-opening win.

Cunningham runs hard

Junior running back Andrew Cunningham had a whopping 31 touchdowns (25 rushing, 6 receiving) along with 1,592 total yards last season. The 6’0″, 200-pounder is a power runner in and out of the tackles. Against Village, he recorded 110 yards and two touchdowns on six touches. This was his second score, the first one came on a 31-yard run.

Reddick stands out

J’Kobi Reddick, a senior wide receiver/cornerback was happy to debut his gold cleats last night. He totaled three tackles and was very active in coverage. After adding five interceptions a season ago, he should get one soon, but it’s clear this kid isn’t afraid to put his body on the line even at his 5’8″, 181-pound frame.

Jackson can fly

Junior quarterback Jaylin Jackson sat out the first quarter due to a missed summer assignment, per head coach Bob Dare. However, that didn’t stop the speedster from making an impact. He finished with 134 total yards (102 passing, 32 rushing) and two rushing touchdowns. Here’s his first score.

Playmaking defense

Senior safeties Aaron Pierre and Zach Froelich each had interceptions in the first half. Caleb Young forced a fumble in the third quarter in which Noah Day recovered and the Lancers won the turnover battle 3-0. Here’s the video of Froelich’s acrobatic pick.
